What you should know about heat pump installation and its common rebates? In addition to the cost of a pump itself, installation is also crucial. Because these systems use refrigerant, the best installers are often refrigeration technicians, rather than electricians. Some companies will bring both to an installation, along with several helpers to assist with any heavy lifting.

Expect an install to take the better part of a day, depending on the size of your pump and the complexity of your job. For example, if the pump needs to be installed on the side of your home opposite to the furnace, extra ductwork and wiring will be required.

Much like an air conditioner, a heat pump installs outside your home and then connects to either your existing furnace, air handler or electric baseboard system.

According to a well known Expert who has been studying about heat pump water heater knowledge for over 10 years ,from PHNIX ,a Chinese manufacture in China .The most common type of pump is what's known as "air-to-air," which draws hot or cold air across refrigerant lines to either absorb or release heat. In summer, warm air thus pumps out of your home, and in winter the process reverses. Properly maintained, a heat pump system can last between 20 and 25 years.

But you can mitigate the costs of a heat pump with government assistance. The federal government is offering a tax credit up to 30 percent of the price of a geothermal pump through 2016, and retroactive to purchases made in 2015. Many states offer direct rebates for switching from a furnace system to a heat pump.

Heat pumps come with a higher initial cost than furnace or air conditioning units, but provide the benefit of all-season cooling and improved energy efficiency.
